Last time out...

Cincinnati native Casey Henn (8-5) went seven and two thirds innings of shutout ball, striking out a career-high 12 along the way as the Florence Freedom (37-46) knocked off the Windy City ThunderBolts (31-53) by a final score of 3-0 Thursday night. The Freedom got on the board right away against Windy City starter Josh Spence (1-9) as Zak Blair doubled with one out in the first. Sam Eberle doubled as well but Blair had to stop at third as the ball was nearly caught. Then Jacob Tanis drove in Blair with a RBI ground-out as Florence grabbed a 1-0 lead. Buddy Sosnoskie smacked his fifth home run of the season to extend the Freedom lead to 2-0 in the fourth. Then Tanis launched his fifth home run of the year as well, widening the lead to 3-0 in the fifth. But the night belonged to Henn as he scattered four hits over the seven and two thirds innings while walking only two hitters.

For Starters...

Peter Gehle makes his 17th start of the season tonight for the Freedom. He is coming off a win over Joliet on August 16 as Gehle went seven and a third innings, scattering seven hits, allowing two runs in a 6-2 win for the Freedom. The left-hander is looking for his first road victory since June 18. Gehle, 26, is a former 27th round draft pick of the Chicago White Sox in 2010 out of Azusa Pacific University. The Flagstaff, Arizona native spent two years in the White Sox organization before joining Sioux Falls of the American Association in 2012. He spent 2013 in the AA as well, this time with the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

Mining...

The Freedom have a record of 2-4 against the Southern Illinois Miners this season. The Miners swept the Freedom at Rent One Park July 27-29. Rob Kelly has been the offensive star for Florence against Southern Illinois, going 8-17 at the plate with two home runs and five RBI.

Winning ways...

The Freedom have won four consecutive series for the first time this season. They have taken two of three from Normal, two of three from Traverse City for their first road series win of the year, two of three from Joliet and three of four from Windy City.

Road woes...

The Freedom have a record of 9-23 on the road this season, the fewest road wins in the Frontier League.

Shut you down...

The Freedom tossed their seventh shutout of the year on Thursday. They are tied with Evansville for the second most shutouts thrown this season, trailing only...Southern Illinois. The Miners have tossed nine shutouts.

Excellent Eberle...

Sam Eberle leads the league in On-Base Percentage at .451 and has reached base safely in 25 consecutive games.

A Hot August...

This season the Freedom have already won more games in the month of August (11) than any other month this season.

Hot hitters...

Zak Blair is hitting .441 with seven runs scored and four RBI over the past 10 games. Sam Eberle is hitting .452 with five runs scored and four RBI over the past 10 contests. Rolando Gomez has reached base in every game he's played in so far for the Freedom.

Leading after six...

The Freedom have an impressive record of 29-5 when leading after six innings. However they are only 5-34 when trailing after six.
