Fish Shut out Jackals Again

Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
It's easy to keep a winning streak going when you don't allow the opposition to score any runs.
For the second consecutive night, the Winnipeg Goldeyes (56-33) shut out the New Jersey Jackals (47-38) to sweep the three-game series. Winnipeg won 2-0 Wednesday night before 6,656 fans at Shaw Park, after winning 6-0 Tuesday evening.
The win is Winnipeg's fifth in a row and ninth in their last 10 games. Thanks to the St. Paul Saints losing in Gary, the Goldeyes' magic number is down to three. Winnipeg can clinch the American Association's North Division tomorrow night with a win and two St. Paul losses. The Saints play a doubleheader on the road against the Lincoln Saltdogs.
On Wednesday night, the Goldeyes opened the scoring in the bottom of the third when Tyler Kuhn singled in Ryan Pineda.
Winnipeg scored the game's other run in the eighth. After Brock Bond reached first on a fielder's choice, he went first-to-third on a Jake Blackwood single and scored on the play as the throw to third went out of play.
Jake Blackwood was the only Goldeyes player to register two hits.
Goldeyes starting pitcher Chris Salamida was spectacular, allowing six hits in 7 2/3 scoreless innings for the win. He walked two and struck out four. Brendan Lafferty came in for the final five outs of the game to secure his fifth save of the season.
New Jersey starter Keith Bilodeau was the hard-luck loser after giving up one run in seven innings of work.
Winnipeg welcomes the Sioux Falls Canaries to Shaw Park Thursday night for the first time this season. Lefty Ryan Bollinger (2-0, 6.00) will make his home debut against Matt Wickwatt (3-7, 6.11) of the Canaries. Game time is 7 p.m.
Tickets for all 2014 Winnipeg Goldeyes games are available through Ticketmaster by clicking on Goldeyes.com, calling 1-855-GOLDEYE or visiting any Ticketmaster location, including the Shaw Park box office.
