Minnesota Axemen News Release

Bemidji, MN - The Bemidji Axemen have re-signed kicker Zach Pulkinen and running back Avery Walker, alumni of Bemidji State University

Pulkinen played in nine games for the Axemen last season, finishing first in the league in point-after kicking percentage (93.8 percent) and fourth in the league in field goal percentage (40 percent). Pulkinen, a native of Minot, ND, attended Bemidji State University and earned 2013 AP Division II Second Team All-American honors.

"Zach is a great kicker," Axemen head coach Dixie Wooten stated. "With him, we always feel like we will end drives with a score."

Walker signed with the Axemen toward the end of last season and appeared in zero games for the franchise. While attending Bemidji State, Walker's standout season came in 2013 as he finished with 1,314 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns, 189 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns. His performance earned him 1st Team All-NSIC North honors.

"Avery is a talented young running back and is a hard worker," said Wooten. "He will make a difference this season."

The Axemen kick off their sophomore season in February of 2015 on Palace Casino Field at the Sanford Center. The 2015 IFL schedule will be released in 2015. Season tickets to all eight (8) games of Bemidji Axemen football in 2015 are now on sale and can be purchased online through www.bemidjiaxemen.com.
