Twin Twine Tenders Join the Evansville IceMen

Evansville, IN - Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations, Dwight Mullins, has announced that the Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, have signed goaltenders Garrett Bartus and Chris Rawlings for the coming 2014-15 ECHL season.

Garrett Bartus, 24, returns to Evansville after playing in 24 games last season for the IceMen. The St. Charles, Illinois native posted a record of 8 wins, 9 losses, 3 overtime losses, and 3 shootout losses, and a 3.30 goals against average and a 90.2 save percentage. Bartus, 6'-2" and 190 lbs, will be starting his second professional season following four years of college hockey at the University of Connecticut and four years playing junior hockey in the North American Hockey League in Youngstown, Ohio and in St. Louis. "Garrett is looking to build on the success he had here last season," said IceMen Head Coach Dwight Mullins. "He has worked very hard this summer."

North Delta, British Columbia goaltender Chris Rawlings, 25, comes to Evansville after spending time in the American Hockey League, Central Hockey League, and ECHL last year. Rawlings, 6'5", 220 lbs, appeared in 5 games in the AHL with the Portland Pirates where he posted a 3.82 goals against average and an 88.1 save percentage. In the CHL, he played with the Arizona Sundogs for 12 games with a 4.12 gaa and an 85.7 save percentage and in the ECHL, Chris skated for the Gwinnett Gladiators for 6 games with a 3.68 gaa and a save percentage of 87.9. The coming 2014-15 ECHL season will be Chris' third professional one having played briefly for Portland in the AHL and Idaho in the ECHL during the the 2012-13 season following four years of college hockey at Northeastern University in Hockey East and four years of junior hockey in the British Columbia Hockey League. "Chris comes in highly regarded by a lot of NHL people," said Dwight Mullins. "He brings a lot of technical skill to the net and I'm excited to see him compete."

Mullins also said, "having these two goalies coming to training camp and knowing we will get a quality netminder from our affiliate, I feel our goalie situation is on the right track."

And a reminder that the IceMen have announced the dates for their Inaugural Free Agent Camp to be held at Swonder Ice Arena, located at 209 N Boeke Road in Evansville, IN. The camp will run on Friday September 19th through Sunday September 21st . Players will participate in three scrimmages during their time in Evansville with top players being guaranteed a spot on the 2014-2015 Season Training Camp Roster.

Cost is $250, paid in advance, includes a two-night hotel stay at the Comfort Inn East, lunch and jersey and socks will be provided. Players must provide their own equipment, with helmets having a shield and must carry their own USA Hockey Insurance.
