Silver Hawks Attempt to "Pack the Park"
August 20, 2014 - Midwest League (MWL1)
South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend, Indiana (August 20, 2014)- In an effort to set a new single season attendance record in franchise history, your Silver Hawks are throwing a Pack the Park celebration next Tuesday, August 26th. Next Tuesday tickets, regular hot dogs, sodas, and draft beer will be $2. In addition to the celebration it is also the last Bark in the Park, so bring your dogs to Four Winds Field and help your Hawks get one step closer to history!
The single season attendance record was set back in 1994 at 258,424; the year of the Major League Baseball strike. Currently the Silver Hawks attendance is at 236,388, only 22,036 away from the record.
"We are coming down the home stretch and with only 7 games left in the regular season we felt it would be a great way to thank the entire region for another great season. Setting the single season attendance record would be an amazing accomplishment for the community. It is not every day a franchise has an opportunity to set an attendance record 27-years into their existence. We hope we can "Pack the Park" on Tuesday night and put us one step closer to achieving the record. I have said several times that we have the best fans in baseball and I truly mean that so I hope they come out on Tuesday and celebrate." States Joe Hart, Silver Hawks' Team President.
Your Silver Hawks take the field against the West Michigan Whitecaps Sunday through Tuesday and then welcome in the Bowling Green Hot Rods Wednesday through Friday. Promotions include Swoop Troop and Family Day on Sunday, with pregame catch on the field at 1:15, Belly Buster Monday, fans can upgrade their ticket to include all you can eat hot dogs, hamburgers, peanuts and popcorn, and Tuesday is Bark in the park and Pack the Park with $2 tickets, hot dogs, sodas and draft beer. Wednesday bring the kids for Kids Eat Free, Thursday enjoy $2 beer and soda all game long during Thirsty Thursday and wrap up the week with Friday Night Fireworks.
