Albitz Homers Twice as Bees Win Third Straight

Vance Albitz delivered the first two homer game of his five-year professional career to help carry the Salt Lake Bees to a 7-5 win over the Iowa Cubs on Monday night. Albitz' first home run came on a 2-0 pitch in the sixth inning that tied the game at 4-4. His second of the night and just the seventh of his career came in the eighth to give the Bees a two run lead. Salt Lake had taken a 6-4 lead in the seventh on an RBI single by Roberto Lopez and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Wheeler.

Anthony Lerew (4-4) pitched a scoreless sixth inning to earn the victory, while Michael Kohn retired all four batters he faced to earn his eighth save of the season. Albitz led the Bees with three hits and two runs batted in. Luis Jimenez belted his 20th home run of the season in the first inning to give Salt Lake a 1-0 lead and ended the night with two hits and two RBI. C.J. Cron added two hits and Ryan Wheeler chipped in with one hit and two RBI, as the Bees have now won the first three games of the series for the first time this season.
