Lexington Legends News Release

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Jared Breen's double scored Chance Sisco with the tie-breaking run in the top of the 10th inning, and the Delmarva Shorebirds edged the Lexington Legends 3-2 in 10 innings Monday night.

The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Creede Simpson doubled with one out and came home on Sisco's single. The Legends evened the game in the bottom of the sixth on Chad Johnson's fourth home run of the year.

Delmarva took a 2-1 lead in the seventh when Gregory Lorenzo walked, stole second and came home on a base hit by Josh Hart. The score remained 2-1 until Lexington's Elier Hernandez led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a home run, his ninth of the year.

In the 10th, Sisco led off with a single and moved to second on Austin Wynns' sacrifice bunt. After Anthony Vega was called out on strikes, Breen hit a ground ball down the left field line to score Sisco with go-ahead run.

Donnie Hart (1-2), who entered the game in the bottom of the ninth, blew the save but got the victory.

Matt Alvarez (5-6), who took over for Legends starter Luis Rico at the start of the seventh inning, was the losing pitcher.

Game two of the three-game series will be played Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
