RHP Scott Copeland Named International League Pitcher of the Week

August 18, 2014 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

The International League announced today that RHP SCOTT COPELAND has been named the league's Pitcher-of-the-Week for the period of August 11-17. He is the second Bisons player to win a weekly award from the IL, joining OF Kevin Pillar who won Batter-of-the-Week twice this year.

COPELAND, who returned to Double-A New Hampshire on Sunday, gave the Bisons two stellar starts last week. On Monday, August 11, the righty tossed seven shutout innings in a 5-0 Bisons win over the Tides. In the outing, Copeland induced three doubleplays and struck out four while earning his first career Triple-A victory. On Saturday in Lehigh Valley, Copeland equaled his debut with another seven shutout innings in a victory over the IronPigs in Lehigh Valley. In that start, he struck out six and allowed just four hits.

In the two starts combined, Copeland allowed just one extra base hit (double).

Copeland is 8-7 with a 3.70 ERA in 26 games and 21 starts for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats of the Eastern League.

The Bisons have just EIGHT home games left in the 2014 regular season. The Herd hosts the Rochester Red Wings tomorrow, Tuesday, August 19, to begin the final homestand of the season.
