Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

MISSOULA, MT -- The pregame buzz was about the Royals 2nd ranked prospect Kyle Zimmer making his 2014 debut with Idaho Falls. It was the man on the mound that followed Zimmer that looked like a dominant force. Torey Deshazier pitches 5.2 scoreless innings while striking out a Chukars high 11 batters in a 4-1 victory of Missoula.

Idaho Falls (31-27, 11-9) sent Kyle Zimmer to the mound for his first rehab start. The San Francisco native faced only three batters, making his first appearance since August of 2013. The right-hander walked the first batter he faced, was able to get the following batter to pop out to third. Trevor Mitsui singled off of Zimmer to conclude his outing. The 5th overall draft pick in 2012 showed his electric fastball that reached as high as 97mph on the stadium radar gun, as well as his devastating 12-6 curveball.

Torey Deshazier (4-1) came in for Zimmer, and struck out the next two batters to end the inning. It was a preview of things to come for the Arkansas Baptist product. Deshazier kept the Osprey off the board for the next five innings, reaching a Chukars season high 11 strikeouts. Torey finished with a bang, striking out the side in order in the 6th.

Deshazier was able to work with a lead, thanks to a Ryan O'Hearn two run home run in the first. Idaho Falls has tallied a first inning home run in each of the past three games. The Sam Houston State product became the first Chukars player to reach 10 home runs and 40 RBIs. Robert Pehl belted a two run blast of his own in the third.

Missoula (27-32, 10-11) threatened in the seventh without hitting the baseball. Austin Fairchild walked four batters, including walking in a run with the bases loaded. Jon Fitzsimmons came in relief, and struck out Taylor Ard to end the inning.

The Chukars finish their seven game road trip by playing game four of the four game series against the Missoula Osprey tomorrow. Zach Lovvorn is slated to pitch for the Greybirds.
