Aviators Fall 5-1 in Pitching Battle

LOVES PARK, IL- The Rockford Aviators (32-48) presented Pearson, struggled to put runs on the board and fell to the CornBelters (40-39), 5-1.

Ryan Zimmerman got the start for the Aviators. He was excellent in his start tonight. He pitched 6.2 innings allowing two runs and only four hits, while striking out eight CornBelters.

Tonight's game was a pitcher's duel as it wasn't until the seventh inning that the CornBelters broke the 0-0 tie.

The CornBelters pushed two across in the inning and took the lead 2-0.

Matt Packer was got the start for the CornBelters and was dominant. He pitched eight scoreless innings allowing six hits while striking out eleven Aviators.

The CornBelters scored three runs in the top of the eighth after Tyler Shover hit a 3-run double that increased the lead to 5-0.

Ryan Breen hit into a fielder's choice that brought in Dusty Robinson from third and cut the lead to 5-1.

The Aviators extended their losing streak to three in a row.

The Aviators will look to avoid the swept as they conclude their series with the CornBelters tomorrow night at 5:05 p.m..

Tomorrow night's game is YMCA Family Day. All kids 12 and younger will receive admission for just $2!
