Rodesky Shuts Door in Claws Debut; Lakewood Wins 6-4

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Making his BlueClaws debut, Nick Rodesky threw a scoreless ninth inning, getting Rafael Bautista to hit into a 4-6-3 game-ending double play as the BlueClaws topped Hagerstown 6-4 on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws (21-34/48-76) have won the first two games of this series after entering on a five-game losing streak. They pounded out 15 hits in the game led by three from Andrew Knapp and Willians Astudillo.

Rodesky, who signed with the Phillies from the Trindad (CO) Triggers of the independent Pecos League in July, followed Jesen Therrien, who threw two scoreless innings of relief. The two both joined the BlueClaws yesterday. Julio Reyes (3-4) threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.

Hagerstown (35-20/79-46) took a 2-0 second inning lead on a two-run double by Wilman Rodriguez. The BlueClaws answered with four runs in a six-hit second inning that included RBIs from Mitch Walding, Malquin Canelo, Carlos Tocci, and Andrew Pullin.

The Suns tied the game with two in the 3rd inning on an RBI single by Carlos Lopez and a SAC fly by Wilman Rodriguez. Walding added a SAC fly in the bottom of the 4th to give the BlueClaws back the lead.

Tocci, Aaron Brown, and Green had two hits in addition to the three apiece by Knapp and Astudillo. Lakewood had 15 hits in the win and has 26 over the first two games of the series. Astudillo is now 24-55 over his last 14 games.

Lakewood starter Matt Imhof gave up four runs in 4.1 innings of work and got a no-decision. Hagerstown starter Wander Suero (3-1) took the loss after allowing five runs/four earned in 3.1 innings.

The series continues on Saturday night at 7:05. RHP Tyler Viza (3-15) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Lucas Giolito (9-2).
