Tonight's Game
The Bisons open a three-game series with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park. The Herd dropped yesterday's game to the Tides, splitting the four-game series. After this series with the IronPigs, Buffalo will have an off day before they play the remaining 15 games of the season in 14 days.
Playoff Race
Buffalo fell back in the hunt with yesterday's loss. The Bisons now sit 5.5 games back in 4th place of the IL North, and 4.5 games behind Pawtucket for the Wild Card. The final 18 games of the season for the Herd will all be against divisional foes.
vs. the IronPigs
The Bisons have been dominant over the IronPigs all season with a 10-3 record. The team has hit at .300 clip and scored 75 runs in the 13 games (5.8/game), and Bison pitchers have collectively posted an ERA of 2.85. The Bisons swept Lehigh Valley in their last series, July 25-28.
Daniel Norris
LHP DANIEL NORRIS will make his second Triple-A start after he made his debut August 10 at Durham. The southpaw threw a gem, going 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing only 2 hits and a walk while matching his career high in strikeouts with 10. Norris is a combined 10-1 with a 2.25 ERA this season, with 135 strikeouts in 108.0 innings.
Kevin Pillar
OF KEVIN PILLAR extended his current hit streak to 21 games in yesterday's loss. During the streak, Pillar is batting .384 (33-86) with eight doubles, five homers, 18 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. The 21 games ties him for 3rd with INF Jolbert Cabrera for the longest hit streak in Bisons' modern era. OF Alex Ramirez holds the Herd's longest streak of 28 games, which he did in the 1998 season.
Mike Zagurski
LHP MIKE ZAGURSKI fanned three batters in 2.0 scoreless innings of relief yesterday. The lefty now has an ERA of 2.15 as a Bison this season, with 77 total strikeouts in 54.0 innings pitched. He has recorded a strikeout in 23 of his 25 appearances for the Herd.
Bisons Bits
Buffalo has won 18 of their last 25 games...The Bisons' rotation has an ERA of 1.78 through 81.0 innings of work in the month of August...INF JONATHAN DIAZ has hit in 16 of his last 20 games (.338, 22-65).
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (63-59) will begin a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox tonight at 8:10 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Field. Former Bison star Marcus Stroman is scheduled to make the start as Toronto continues their playoff push. The Jays are 3.5 games back of a Wild Card spot behind Detroit.
