Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have traded defenceman Will Thompson to the Charlottetown Islanders in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2015 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft.
Thompson, 17, was selected by the Sea Dogs in the first round (17th overall) of the 2013 QMJHL Draft.
The Fredericton-native registered three goals and ten points in 41 games with Saint John last season.
"Will ran into a numbers game with us," said Sea Dogs General Manager Darrell Young. "We have several returning defencemen, plus we added new players and others with experience. This move will give him the chance to be a full-time player going forward.
"We'd like to thank Will for his contribution to our organization, and wish him the best in his career."
The Sea Dogs' first preseason game is tonight against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at 7 p.m. at Harbour Station. Tickets for the game are FREE, and are available now at the Harbour Station Box Office. Fewer than five hundred tickets remain available.
Season tickets are on sale now at the Harbour Station box office and the Sea Dogs' office on the pedway level of Harbour Station. Season ticket holders can SAVE up to $170 on their seats when compared with single-game box office prices.
