Windy City Walks off to 3-2 Victory

Crestwood, IL-A RBI double by Windy City Thunderbolts outfielder Kyle Robinson in the bottom of the tenth plated the winning run as the home team defeated the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, 3-2 in walk-off fashion Thursday at Standard Bank Stadium.

Similar to the past two games, the Washington offense came out full steam ahead as Scott Kalamar delivered a leadoff double, his 16th of the season. Two batters later, William Beckwith racked up his 33rd RBI of the season bringing home Kalamar to make the score 1-0. Washington lengthened their lead 2-0 in the top of the second after a Thunderbolts miscue. In the top of the third, Windy City picked up their first run of the game off the bat of Kyle Robinson that allowed Mike Torres to score from first base, 2-1. The Thunderbolts tied the game at two in the sixth inning when Ryan Soares doubled in Robinson, 2-2.

As the team's headed to extra innings for the first time this series, Windy City prevailed in the bottom of the tenth as a RBI double by Robinson knocked in Mike Torres for the Thunderbolts victory.

From the bump, Washington starter Troy Marks retired eight straight batters. In seven innings, of work he allowed just six hits and collected eight strikeouts. Washington reliever Pat Butler suffered the loss for the Wild Things as he lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out one and allowed one earned run. Windy City pitcher Reese McGraw improved his season record to 1-1, picking up the win for the Thunderbolts. McGraw struck out four, walked one and gave up one hit.

The Wild Things are back in action Friday, August 15, as the visit Evansville to take on the Otters for a three game series.
