Saskatoon Blades News Release

SASKATOON - The Saskatoon Blades announced today that the club has signed 1999-born forward Logan Christensen to a Standard Western Hockey League Player Agreement.

Taken by the Blades in the second round "" 30th overall "" in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, Christensen spent this past season with Kelowna's Pursuit of Excellence Program, collecting 34 goals, 79 points and 46 penalty minutes in 54 games.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound pivot hails from Morden, MB.

"Logan is a perfect definition of what we like to refer to as a 'driver' on the ice," Dan Tencer, Blades Director of Scouting, Western Region, said of the announcement. "He's a relentless player who possesses a powerful skating stride, an excellent shot, a tenacious attitude towards checking and excellent awareness in all zones. His game embodies a lot of the characteristics that we hope to build the foundation of our hockey team on, and we think he's going to develop into an excellent Western Hockey League forward."

Added Blades Managing Partner, Colin Priestner, back on draft day: "Doug Molleken and Scott Unger, our Manitoba scout, have long been touting him. He's a ferocious forechecker, backchecker "" he's the kind of guy you win with."

Blades training camp opens on Thursday, Aug. 21, and runs until Sunday, Aug. 24, culminating in the annual Blue-White Intrasquad Game at 1:00pm CST. All on-ice sessions will be held at the Legends Centre in Warman and will be open to the public.

The full schedule and camp rosters will be released shortly.
