Nuts Club Their Way to 11-8 Win

Modesto, CA. - Behind a season-high 17 hits, the Nuts defeated the Blaze 11-8 on Wednesday night at John Thurman Field.
After coughing up two leads, the Nuts (12-39; 36-86) plated four runs in the seventh to take the lead for good.
To tie the game in the seventh, Francsico Sosa clubbed a triple with one out off Blaze (23-29; 68-54) reliever El'Hajj Muhammad (L, 0-2). Sosa scored on Dean Espy's RBI single. Derek Jones followed by drilling a go-ahead, two-run homer to right-center field.
John Keck (W, 2-3) went 1.1 innings and did not allow hit in his relief work for the Nuts.
Pat Valaika went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI. Sosa finished with two RBI and a run scored during a 2-for-5 day. Mike Tauchman, Alex San Juan, and Espy all added two hits as well.
The Nuts have a chance for their first series victory since early July in the finale of the three-game series against the Blaze. Lefty Wandy Peralta will toss for the Blaze. Southpaw Jayson Aquino will be on the bump for the Nuts. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:00 p.m.
