Hard Hitting Harvey Joins the Evansville IceMen Roster

Evansville, IN - Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations, Dwight Mullins, has announced that the Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, have added twenty-nine year old forward Kevin Harvey for the coming 2014-15 ECHL season.

Harvey, a native of Sheffield, Ontario, is a former ninth round draft choice of the Calgary Flames (2003 NHL Entry Draft). Prior to turning pro in the 2006-07 season, the 6'-2", 195 lbs forward played five seasons of junior hockey in the OPJHL (Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League) and the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

The 2014-15 season will mark Kevin's ninth professional season. He has played in the Central Hockey League for New Mexico and Rapid City, where last season he posted numbers of 3 goals, 10 assists, and 13 pts, along with 78 penalty minutes in 27 games in South Dakota. Harvey has also played in the American Hockey League with Syracuse and Springfield and in Europe in Slovakia and England, where he played in 37 games for the Coventry Blaze of the British Elite Hockey League last year scoring 15 goals, 16 assists, 31 points, and 322 penalty minutes before joining Rapid City.

Evansville becomes Kevin's fourth ECHL stop having previously played in Reading, Toledo, and Elmira, where he played for IceMen coach Dwight Mullins during the 2012-13 season. His nine year professional totals (including his games in Europe) are 454 games, 65 goals, 92 assists, 157 points, and 2119 penalty minutes.

"Kevin Harvey is highly competitive," said IceMen Head Coach Dwight Mullins. "He's a great teammate and his enthusiasm and style of play will rub off on his teammates." Dwight Mullins will be available to meet with IceMen fans and the media this coming Saturday, August 16th during IceMen Day at the Ellis Park Race Track.

And a reminder that the IceMen have announced the dates for their Inaugural Free Agent Camp to be held at Swonder Ice Arena, located at 209 N Boeke Road in Evansville, IN. The camp will run on Friday September 19th through Sunday September 21st . Players will participate in three scrimmages during their time in Evansville with top players being guaranteed a spot on the 2014-2015 Season Training Camp Roster.

Cost is $250, paid in advance, includes a two-night hotel stay at the Comfort Inn East, lunch and jersey and socks will be provided. Players must provide their own equipment, with helmets having a shield and must carry their own USA Hockey Insurance.
