Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA BAY - Tampa Bay Storm wide receiver Joe Hills has signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League, announced vice president of football operations of Jeff Gooch.

"Joe was a very important piece of our offense," said Gooch. "Losing a player of his caliber is bittersweet, but we are proud to see him get this opportunity with the Tiger-Cats."

Hills (6-foot-5, 215 lbs., Tennessee State) spent the past three seasons with the Storm, starting in 32-of-35 games. He has caught a touchdown in 35 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the AFL.

The 2013 season was a breakout year for the Bradenton native, where he compiled numbers at a record pace and completed one of the greatest statistical seasons in team history. He holds the all-time Storm single-season record in receptions (133), receiving yards (1,861), receiving touchdowns (42) and points scored - non-kicking (262). His performance in 2013 earned him first team all-arena honors.

He followed up the 2013 season with an equally successful 2014 campaign. Hills started in 14-of-14 games and caught 100 passes for 1,252 yards and 38 receiving touchdowns. His 38 touchdowns were the second most in Storm single-season history.
