Reno Aces News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Former Aces shortstop Josh Wilson delivered the walk-off single for the Round Rock Express as they beat the Reno Aces, 4-3, in 12 innings Tuesday night.

Wilson drove home Bryan Peterson from second base to hand Reno its first loss in extra innings this season. They Aces had been 5-0 in extras before Tuesday.

Round Rock opened the game with a bang in the first inning. Ryan Strausborger led off the bottom of the first with a single, and Tomas Telis followed it with a home run to right field to put the Express up 2-0.

After allowing a double to the next batter, Aces starter Charles Brewer settled down, retiring 11 of the next 12 batters.

Reno answered back in the top of the fourth frame. Ronny Cedeño led off the inning with a walk, and Andy Marte followed with a single to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. After Mike Jacobs flew out, Garrett Weber singled to load the bases.

Roger Kieschnick followed with a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Cedeño and was deep enough to allow all of the Reno runners to advance. In the next at-bat, former Express player Aaron Cunningham laced a single down the right field line to score Marte and Weber.

Kevin Munson and Will Harris each pitched a scoreless frame to preserve the Aces' lead, but Round Rock got to Jake Barrett in the ninth to tie it.

After a strikeout to lead off the inning, Ryan Rua walked and advanced to third on a Brett Nichols single. He then scored to tie it when Michael Choice drilled a sacrifice fly to center field.

Both teams failed to score in the 10th and 11th innings, but the Express won it in the 12th. Peterson singled to right in the first at-bat of the frame, and scored after a sacrifice bunt and a single to right field.

Despite not factoring into the decision, Brewer went six innings and held the Express to just two runs on five hits and struck out five. Zach Borenstein extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single in the top of the 11th inning.

Reno and Round Rock will play game two of the four-game series tomorrow night. Right-hander Lucas Harrell (5-3, 5.50) is scheduled to start for the Aces, and he will be opposed by Round Rock southpaw Robbie Ross Jr. (4-4, 5.10). First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
