BlueClaws Swept in Tuesday Double-Header at Greensboro

GREENSBORO, NC - Drew Stankiewicz was thrown out at home plate trying to score from first base in the top of the 7th inning and Carlos Tocci flew out to center to end the game as the BlueClaws fell 1-0 in the night-cap after dropping the first game of Tuesday's double-header 7-0 at NewBridge Bank Park.
The BlueClaws have now dropped four games in a row and are 19-33 in the second half, 46-75 on the year, 29 games under .500 for the first time. They fell to 5-9 in double-header games this season.
The only run in the second game came on an error by Mitch Walding in the first, misplaying an Avery Romero groundball.
Chris Sadberry (2-0) went five innings and Miguel del Pozo got the last six outs for his fourth save of the year. Jon Prosinski went the whole way for Lakewood, falling to 4-5 after allowing just an unearned run over six innings of work.
Greensboro (32-20/76-46) took the opener in much easier fashion, knocking off Lakewood 7-0.
After Greensboro a got a 1st inning run, Rheinar Cordova had an RBI single to put Greensboro up 2-0 in the 3rd inning. Carlos Lopez followed with a three-run home run off Lakewood starter Yoel Mecias to put Greensboro up 5-0.
It was Lopez's 7th home run of the season, three of which have come against the BlueClaws. JT Riddle had two hits and scored twice for Greensboro.
Mecias (2-2) gave up five runs in 3.2 innings and took his second loss of the season. Domingo German threw four scoreless innings for Greensboro while Cody Crabaugh (4-2) earned the win with two innings and Tyler Bremer got the last three outs.
Lakewood's Willians Astudillo had hits in both games of the double-header and has now hit safely in 11 straight games for the BlueClaws.
The series concludes on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 pm. RHP Yacksel Rios (5-1) throws for Lakewood against Greensboro RHP Jose Adames (1-1).
