SS Ketel Marte Promoted to AAA Tacoma

PENSACOLA, FLA. - The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster move that affects the Generals roster. SS Ketel Marte has been promoted to AAA Tacoma. No corresponding move has been made. The move is made prior to today's series finale at Pensacola at 4:00 p.m. CT. Marte joins the Tacoma Rainiers at home as they take on Fresno at 1:35 p.m. PT.

Marte, 20, a 2014 Southern League midseason All-Star has been promoted to AAA Tacoma. He is currently leading the league in hits (134), at-bats (443), ranks 6th in batting average (.302), T-5th in doubles (27) and T-6th in stolen bases (23). In total, Marte is batting .302, with 6 triples, 27 doubles, 2 home runs and 46 RBI in a team-high 109 games. Marte logged 36 multi-hit contests and had six hitting streaks of seven games or more this season. He currently has a 9-game hit streak, batting .351 (13x37) with 6 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 home run and 4 RBI. After recording 1 hit in his first 14 AA at-bats (.071). Marte was signed by the Mariners as an international free-agent out of Dominican Republic in 2011.
