RENO, Nev. - River Cats hits king Daric Barton went 1-for-2 with two runs, an RBI, two walks, and a home run, helping the River Cats beat the Reno Aces by a score of 4-2 on Friday night at Aces Ballpark.
The River Cats scored twice in the top of the second inning on an Alden Carrithers run-scoring double, followed by a Jose Martinez RBI-groundout. Sacramento scored their third run in the top of the third on Barton's solo bomb before plating their fourth and final run in the fifth when Nick Buss doubled to lead off the frame, coming around to score on a throwing error from pitcher Lucas Harrell.
Reno cut the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth when Aaron Cunningham singled home Garrett Weber before scoring their second run in the bottom of the eighth on Mike Jacobs' RBI-double. Neither team scored in the ninth, giving Sacramento the 4-2 victory over the Aces.
Buss finished 1-for-5 with a run, and a double, Carrithers went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double, while Anthony Aliotti finished 2-for-3 with a double of his own. Drew Pomeranz earned the win, giving up just four hits and one run with four walks and seven strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Jeremy McBryde notched his 12th save with one scoreless inning of work.
Jacobs finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double, while Weber went 0-for-3 with two runs and two walks. Harrell gave up four hits and four runs-three earned-with five walks and three strikeouts in six innings of work.
River Cats righty Matt Buschmann (6-6, 5.00 ERA) will start opposite a Reno Aces pitcher who is to-be-determined at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday evening at Aces Ballpark.
The River Cats return home for an eight-game homestand on Tuesday, Aug. 12 when the Colorado Springs Sky Sox come to town, followed by the Oklahoma City RedHawks.
