Anderson Sharp as RubberDucks Extend Streak

Akron RubberDucks News Release
(Akron, Ohio) Four Akron pitchers, led by starter Cody Anderson, combined on a three-hitter Friday night, as the RubberDucks won their fifth consecutive game with a 3-1 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in the opener of a three-game series at Canal Park.
The win helped Akron pull within two games of first place Richmond pending the outcome of the Flying Squirrels' game against Portland. The top two teams in the division make the EL playoffs. Akron has 22 regular season games remaining.
Cody Anderson started things off for Akron on the mound by retiring the first 12 batters faced. The 12 batters were the only ones the righty faced on the evening after being reactivated from the disabled list and making his first start since July 19th. The 23-year-old threw 36 pitches, 26 for strikes, as he fanned one in his four perfect innings.
Jordan Cooper (7-3) picked up the win after taking to the mound in the fifth inning where he hurled two innings and allowed two hits and the Fisher Cats' only run, which came on a solo homer off the bat of outfielder Cody Aldridge in the fifth frame. Reliever Adam Miller kept things going by striking out four and retiring all six batters faced before Elvis Araujo was awarded his second save after pitching the final inning.
Three hits in the second inning helped the RubberDucks score two after RBI singles from Bryson Myles and Justin Toole. Bryan LaHair crossed the plate on a wild pitch in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 3-1.
The loss went to New Hampshire starter Taylor Cole (0-2) who allowed four hits and three runs and fanned six batters in his seven innings on the mound.
The quick two hour game came in front of a crowd of 8,096, the ninth sellout of the season at Canal Park.
The RubberDucks (65-55) and Fisher Cats (57-62) will continue the three-game series at Canal Park on Saturday night at 7:05. Akron will send LHP Shawn Morimando (1-3, 3.33) to the mound while RHP Mike Lee (NR) will make the start for New Hampshire. The game will be broadcast on WARF 1350 AM and www.AkronRubberDucks.com.
