Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs are bringing a veteran presence to the blueline with the signing of Adam Bateman.

The 5'11", 190-lb. rearguard from Caledon, Ontario, had a goal and seven assists for eight points in 43 games last season for the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

In three seasons with the Spitfires between 2011 and 2014, Bateman totaled seven goals and 29 points in 163 games.

He was also a teammate of new Sea Dog winger Mitchell Dempsey with Team Ontario at the 2011-12 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

"We are excited to have a player of Adam's skill and experience join our organization," said Sea Dogs General Manager Darrell Young. "Everything we have heard about his work ethic, his leadership and skill set makes us believe that he will be a solid role model and influence for our young defense. Adam is familiar with Atlantic Canada, and New Brunswick in particular, as his father's family is from Fredericton. That made it easier for him to commit to coming to Saint John."

"He's a great kid on and off the ice, but he never got comfortable here," Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel told The Windsor Star last month. "He needs a change."

Bateman is expected to join the Sea Dogs in time for training camp next week.

The Sea Dogs' first preseason game is Friday, August 15th, against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at 7 p.m. at Harbour Station. Tickets for the game are FREE, and are available now at the Harbour Station Box Office.

Season tickets are on sale now at the Harbour Station box office and the Sea Dogs' office on the pedway level of Harbour Station. Season ticket holders can SAVE up to $170 on their seats when compared with single-game box office prices.
