Vermont Mountaineers News Release

Montpelier, Vt. - Vermont Mountaineers outfielder Colin Lyman (Louisville) earned New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) Player of the Week honors for the final week of the regular season, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Lyman becomes the third Mountaineer to garner weekly award honors, following starting pitcher Ryan Davis (Le Moyne) and outfielder Trey Amburgey (St. Petersburg), who nabbed the league honors in weeks 1 and 3, respectively.

Lyman had a stellar week, hitting an astounding .706 (12-17), a league-best. The Illinois native smacked two doubles and a homerun. He scored four runs and drove four runs home. He also finished the week with six stolen bases in seven attempts, thriving under Manager Joe Brown's (Cortland) aggressive strategy along the base paths.

Overall, the Mountaineers played to a 4-2 record on the week, concluding the season with an overall mark of 27-15, good for first place in the Northern Division.

Vermont will host the Laconia Muskrats in game one of the Northern Division semifinals tonight at Montpelier Recreation Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Frank FM and the World sponsor the game at the ballpark. The contest can be heard locally on CBS Sports 1240 WSKI and online at thevermontmountaineers.com.
