(Central Islip, NY) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 2-1 on Saturday night in the opener of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

Both sides exchanged scoreless innings until the bottom of the sixth when Dan Lyons hit a solo home run to left field off Revolution starter Corey Thurman. York immediately pulled even in the top of the seventh on a RBI single to right by Ofilio Castro off Ducks starter John Brownell.

However, Long Island took the lead back in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to right-center by Lew Ford.

Brownell (11-6) earned the win, tossing eight innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and five walks while striking out three. Dan Cortes (0-1) took the loss, yielding a run on three walks in one-third of an inning. Brett Lorin earned his second save with a perfect ninth inning, striking out one. Thurman did not factor into the decision but pitched seven innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits while striking out five.
