Suns Outlast Stars in Thirteen Innings

Huntsville, AL-The Jacksonville Suns outlasted the Huntsville Stars 3-2 in thirteen innings Friday night at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the top of the thirteenth, the Suns had the bases loaded with two outs against Stars reliever Manny Barreda(0-1). With the count at 0-2 on Terrence Dayleg, Barreda hit Dayleg forcing in J.T. Realmuto to give the Suns the 3-2 lead.

In the bottom of the thirteenth, the Stars had runners at first and second with two outs but Steve Ames(2-1) got Erik Komatsu to ground out to second to end the game.

The Stars took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh on back to back sacrifice flies from Robinson Diaz and Hainley Statia.

The Suns then came back in the top of the eighth to tie the game. With two outs, Alex Burg singled over the shortstop Yadiel Rivera on a 1-2 pitch against Tim Dillard. Burg's rbi single made it 2-1.

David Goforth came in out of the Stars bullpen and gave up a game tying rbi single to Brent Keys.

The Stars(19-23, 65-47) trail the Suns(63-49, 27-15)2-0 in their five game series which continues Saturday night. The Stars will have RHP Eric Marzec(1-2, 3.50) on the mound. Jacksonville will send RHP Robert Morey(2-2, 5.45) to the hill. The game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki starting at 6:15 PM CDT on 92.9 FM, 1450 AM and wtkiradio.com.
