Real Salt Lake News Release

SANDY, Utah (Friday, Aug. 1, 2014) - Real Salt Lake has announced that it will host USL PRO Sacramento Republic FC in an exhibition match at Rio Tinto Stadium on Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. MT. The Sept. 30 game will be broadcast locally on ESPN 700.

The Claret-and-Cobalt's exhibition match is already included in the RSL season ticket package and parking pass booklet as "BONUS GAME B." Tickets to the RSL-Sacramento contest will go on sale to the general public Monday, Aug 4. Tickets to the game are available at the Rio Tinto Stadium box office, online at www.RealSaltLake.com/Tickets or over the phone at 801-727-2700.

The Sept. 30 matchup marks the first-ever meeting between Sacramento Republic FC and Real Salt Lake. The California club is currently in its inaugural year with USL PRO, joining the league at the start of 2012. Sacramento Republic FC is currently in fourth-place in the standings with an 11-6-3 record and total of 36 points. The club has found great success in its first year, breaking the USL PRO regular season attendance record just days ago. Sacramento's season attendance of 118,107 crushed the previous record of 112,748 set by Orlando City Soccer Club with five home matches remaining in its regular season. The club is coached by MLS two-time scoring champion and former Chivas USA and Toronto FC head coach, Preki Radosavljeviæ. The club's roster also includes former Real Salt Lake FW Justin Braun.

Real Salt Lake has faced three lower division teams already this year, two of which were USL PRO. The Claret-and-Cobalt was knocked out of the 2014 U.S. Open Cup in its opening match after falling 2-1 at NASL's Atlanta Silverbacks on June 14. The RSL Reserves then played USL PRO Richmond Kickers to a scoreless draw in Richmond on July 6 and fell 5-2 to fellow USL side Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Rio Tinto Stadium on July 25.

Real Salt Lake returns to MLS action on Saturday, looking to recapture the Rocky Mountain Cup when it faces Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park at 7:00 p.m. MT. Saturday's match will be broadcast live on ABC 4, ESPN 700 and 102.3 La Gran D FM.
