Prospects in Development Camps

The Kamloops Blazers have two 16-year-old prospects in Calgary this week. Forward Jake Kryski and defenseman Dawson Davidson are among 108 players participating in Canada's Under-17 National Development Camp. The camp started on July 28th and concludes on August 4th.

Kryski was acquired by the Blazers last summer from the Prince Albert Raiders. The 5'11" and 170lb forward played this past season with the Okanagan Rockets of the B.C. Major Midget League and recorded 48 points in 37 games. In four games as a 15-year-old with the Blazers during the 2013-14 season, Kryski picked up two assists.

Davidson was selected by the Blazers in the third round of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. The Moosomin, SK product played last season with the Moose Jaw Generals of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League. The 5'11" and 166lb defenseman was the top scoring defenseman in the SMAAAHL last season with 39 points in 42 games.

Both are vying to be among the final 66 players that will make up three Canadian teams for the 2014 Under-17 World Challenge in Sarnia, Ontario in November.

Two other prospects have made Team B.C.'s Under-16 shortlist for the upcoming Canada Winter Games that will be in Prince George from February 13 - March 1.

Nolan Kneen and Conner McDonald are among eight defenseman on Team B.C.'s shortlist. Kneen was selected by the Blazers in the first round, third overall and McDonald was selected by the Blazers in the second round, 24th overall in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.

The pair of 15-year-old defensemen played with the North Shore Winter Club in North Vancouver last season. The final roster for Team B.C. will be announced in November.
