August 1, 2014 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

Salt Lake starter Chris Volstad pitched six and two-thirds innings of two run baseball, but was tagged with the loss as the Bees fell to Tacoma 4-1 on Thursday night. A crowd of 10,752 showed up to support the Bees in their first ever appearance on national television with CBS Sports Network in town to broadcast the game as a part of their Minor League Game of the Week.

The Bees fell behind early as Xavier Avery took the first offering of the game from Chris Volstad over the right field wall. The two teams traded zeros until the seventh inning when Julio Morban scored Humberto Quintero on a triple. The Rainiers tacked on two more in the eighth on a home run from Ty Kelly. After scoring three in the first inning of Wednesday night's game, the Bees were held scoreless for 16-straight innings, a season high before Luis Jimenez brought in Shawn O'Malley in the ninth inning. Bees slugger Brennan Boesch had his streak of three-straight games with a home run come to an end. The lefty finished 0-for-1 with four walks, one shy of the franchise record.

The Salt Lake Bees homestand concludes on Friday night against Tacoma. The Bees will return home on August 7 with a five-game series against El Paso. Tickets and additional information about all Salt Lake Bees games is available at www.slbees.com.
