Robinson's 5 RBI Carry Aviators to 10-6 Win

Washington, PA - Rockford Aviators outfielder Dusty Robinson's career night at the plate propelled the visitors to a 10-6 win over the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, Thursday at CONSOL Energy Park. Robinson, who was recently signed by Rockford, finished the contest with five RBI, the most by an Aviators hitter this season and two two-run home runs.

The Aviators came across with the first three runs of the game in the fourth inning. Third baseman Brian Bistagne led off the inning with a double and later scored on a RBI single by Robinson, 1-0. First baseman Kenny Bryant followed with an RBI single of his own to plate the second run of the night for Rockford for a 2-0 score. Rockford added their final run of the fourth when centerfielder Edgar Corcino crossed home on a double-play ball, 3-0.

Rockford left fielder Kalaika Kahoohalahala extended the visitors lead 4-0 with an RBI single in the top of the sixth. Kahoohalahala, who was the McDonald's strike out player of the game, sent the fans home disappointed as he finished the game 3-4 without a strikeout. With two runners on in the bottom of the sixth, first baseman William Beckwith put Washington within one as he clobbered a three-run blast, 4-3.

However, Robinson's second two-run knock of the night, plated second baseman Tanner Witt and extended the visitors lead to 6-3 in the seventh. Four more tallies in the top of the ninth by the Aviators offense put them at a comfortable 10-3 advantage, but, Washington's hitters in the bottom of the ninth created a little scare for Rockford's ninth-inning man Gerardo Sanchez.

A leadoff single by Carter Bell ignited Washington's ninth-inning rally as a double by designated hitter Jose Dore scored pinch runner Sam Montgomery for a 10-4 Rockford advantage. Two strikeouts by Sanchez that got away from Aviators catcher Ryan Breen cut the deficit to 10-6 but a crucial strikeout to right fielder Scott Kalamar ended the home team's comeback bid.
