Outlaws Top BayHawks 18-16 in Complete Team Win

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Nine different Outlaws scored and 15-of-18 (83.3 percent) Denver goals were assisted in the team's 18-16 win over the Chesapeake Bayhawks (4-9) Thursday evening. The Outlaws improved to 9-4 on the season, and because of their win can secure homefield advantage this week with a loss by the New York Lizards tomorrow night.

John Grant Jr. scored two goals in the first quarter to move into first place all-time in Major League Lacrosse history for most career goals (480). Junior finished the night with four goals and four assists, for a total of 17 points in the last two games.

After trailing 2-3 midway through the first quarter, the Outlaws went on a 7-0 scoring run, with seven different players tallying goals-Junior, Drew Snider, Chris Bocklet, Terry Kimener, Eric Law, Cam Holding, and Michael Simon. Chesapeake's Ben Rubeor scored with just under five minutes left in the second quarter to end the 7-0 Denver run and cut Denver's lead to 9-4.

Denver took a 10-4 lead into halftime, but Chesapeake went on a run of their own to start the second half, outscoring Denver 8-2 in the third quarter. The teams were all tied up at 12-12 heading into the final quarter of play.

Denver went on a 5-1 run to start the fourth quarter, with a goal from Law, and two apiece from Junior and Bocklet. Denver led 17-13 with just under five minutes left in regulation. Chesapeake stayed in it, scoring three goals in under three minutes-including two man-up goals-to cut the Outlaws' lead to 17-16.

The Outlaws called a timeout with 51 seconds left, setting up Law's third goal of the night to give the Outlaws a two-goal 18-16 lead. Dillon Roy won the final faceoff to secure possession and the win for the Outlaws.

Goalie Jesse Schwartzman finished the night with 18 saves on 33 shots, including an impressive second quarter where he tallied nine saves. Schwartzman earned the goalie win-the 66th of his career-and completed the game with a .545 save percentage.

Denver returns to action next Saturday, Aug. 9 at 5:30 ET on the road when they face the New York Lizards.
