Game #63 - Home Game #37 (25-37), (19-17)

Last time out...
The Freedom fell 7-6 on Wednesday to Gateway. Landon Hernandez hit three two-run home runs in the game including one in the first inning to give the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead. The Freedom responded in the bottom of the third as Cole Miles and Sam Eberle delivered RBI singles to tie the game at two. Florence appeared to take control of the game in the fourth as they scored four times to take a 6-2 lead. First Adam Taylor delivered a RBI single. Then Miles cranked his sixth home run of the season, a three-run shot to right to put Florence up by four. Hernandez continued his offensive explosion with another two-run home run in the fifth to cut Florence's lead to 6-4. Hernandez clobbered his third two-run home run of the game on the very first pitch he saw from Daniel DeSimone in the seventh. Reliever Chris Squires uncorked a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the ninth and the go-ahead run scored.
For Starters...
2014 Frontier League Mid-Season All-Star Chuck Weaver makes his 12th start of the season tonight. He has lost four consecutive starts but still has the fourth best ERA in the entire Frontier League at 2.31. In his last outing on July 26 against Rockford he went six and two thirds innings, scattering seven hits and giving up three runs, two of which were earned in a 3-1 loss for the Freedom. His last win actually came against the Gateway Grizzlies on July 3 as he went seven shutout innings, only allowing three hits in a 6-1 Freedom victory. Weaver was signed by the Freedom in June 2013 after he finished up his collegiate career at IPFW. He had a solid rookie season, posting a 4-2 record with a 3.70 ERA in 14 appearances, 12 starts. The Ft. Wayne, Ind. native started 13 games as a senior for the Mastadons, posting a 2-5 with a 3.57 ERA. Weaver threw two complete games as a senior and pitched 70.2 innings. He played two years for IPFW after transferring from Vincennes University where he was named to the NJCAA All-Academic team.
