Bullfrogs Continue to Make Community Involvement Top Priority
July 31, 2014 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - Playing on the field every day and improving their talents to someday reach the major leagues is not everything that happens with Northwoods League players. Especially with the Green Bay Bullfrogs, being a large part of the community and helping those in need is just as important as what occurs on the field, to the players, coaches, and organization.
Last Friday for Green Bay's game against the La Crosse Loggers, Bullfrogs' pitcher, Nathan Disch, got to experience first-hand how being a member of the Bullfrogs can influence a young child's life.
Carter Hrubesky was the Cellcom Star of tomorrow at last Friday's game. Carter was born in Green Bay and diagnosed with Autism and Microcephaly while also being allergic to over 100 items. Having outgrown most allergies, Carter now thrives when he is active. Carter enjoys baseball and is currently enjoying his third season at Miracle League in the Green Bay area.
Carter got to spend the entire game with Disch and the Bullfrogs, going from throwing out the first pitch before the game, to hanging out in the Bullfrogs dug out during the game.
"Carter enjoys everything about life," Disch said about the experience. "It's amazing to see how Carter adapts well with the adversity he faces every day. I know it was a rewarding experience for me as well as my teammates."
Throughout the course of the season, all Bullfrogs players are required to make two appearances in the community. Whether it's going to play kickball at a local elementary school, reading at a day care, or simply attending a carnival or festival, the Bullfrogs and their players make their positive influence in the community a top priority.
"It makes my job so rewarding when I see the players in the community," Bullfrogs Marketing Manager Sieeria Vieaux said. "I get amazing feedback from fans and parents about their appearances and the effect it has on these kids."
