Green Bay Rockers News Release

Green Bay, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs and Wisconsin Woodchucks played game two of their home-and-home double header on Wednesday night at Joannes Stadium in Green Bay. Bullfrogs' starting pitcher Nathan Disch (Jacksonville) allowed just one earned run over seven innings and the Bullfrogs scored five runs in the final four innings to defeat the Woodchucks in the night cap and sweep the double header, 5-4.

Down 2-0 after four and a half innings of play, the Bullfrogs came back to score five runs over the next four innings and take a 5-2 lead on the Woodchucks.

After Dean Long (Emporia State) scored one run in the fifth inning on a wild pitch, Green Bay took the lead by scoring two runs in the sixth inning. Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) had a two RBI double in the inning that scored Ryan Howell (Chabot) and Johnny Bekakis (Long Beach State) who both reached on back-to-back singles.

Green Bay added an insurance run in the seventh inning to pull ahead by a score of 4-2. Long led the inning off with a walk before moving up to second on a sacrifice bunt from Brian Celsi (California). Long then scored after he stole third and advanced home when Wisconsin's catcher threw the ball into the outfield trying to nail down Long at third.

The Bullfrogs scored their final run in the eighth inning on a Daniel Jackson (Long Beach State) RBI single that scored Jacobson.

Despite giving up two runs in the ninth inning to the Woodchucks, Ivan Vieitez (Lenoir-Rhyne) threw the final two innings of the game to pick up the save for Green Bay.

Disch earned his fourth win of the season on Wednesday night. The Appleton, Wisconsin native threw seven innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out four, lowering his ERA to 1.80 on the season.

Seth Davis (Augustana) took the loss for the Woodchucks in the night cap. Davis threw five and one-third innings and gave up three runs on six hits to the Bullfrogs.

Wisconsin scored the first two runs of the game in the fifth inning. Both Brendon Hayden (Virginia Tech) and Derek Peake (UW-Milwaukee) had RBIs in the inning for the Woodchucks that put them up 2-0.

Wisconsin would threaten one last time in the ninth inning, scoring two runs on two hits to pull within one run. Jack Klages (Missouri) had a two RBI double in the ninth before Vieitez got the final out of the ninth to preserve the Bullfrogs lead.

Green Bay will now head back on the road to Michigan for a two-game series against the Kalamazoo Growlers on Thursday and Friday. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (CST) from Homer Stryker Field in Kalamazoo.
