Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves could not extend their winning streak on Monday night at People's Natural Gas Field as they dropped the opening game of a three-game series to the Altoona Curve 4-3.

Altoona jumped ahead in the first inning against Erie starter Wilsen Palacios. With two outs, Josh Bell walked and Stetson Allie blasted his 15th home run of the season over the wall in left for a 2-0 lead.

The 'Wolves tied the game in the top of the second against Curve starter Adrian Sampson. Dean Green led off with a double and scored on an Aaron Westlake single to right making it 2-1. With one out, Jamie Johnson singled to push Westlake into scoring position. Jason Krizan, who in the first extended his current hitting streak to 12-straight games, grounded to first and on an errant throw from Allie, Westlake scored, tying the game.

The Curve quickly regained the lead in the home half of the second when Keon Broxton belted a two-out home run for a 3-2 lead.

In the sixth, Green came through again when he crushed his fourth home run of the season over the wall in right, tying the game at 3-3.

Wilsen Palacios was lifted after six innings and took a no-decision allowing three runs on eight hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Altoona took the lead in the seventh against Erie reliever Brennan Smith. Alen Hanson led off, was hit by a pitch and stole second. Drew Maggi sacrificed Hanson over to third. With two outs, Allie came up with the fourth, two-out RBI of the night for Altoona as he singled home Hanson for a 4-3 lead.

Erie would be held without a hit over the final three innings of the game in the losing effort.

Smith (0-1) took the loss allowing a run on one hit with no walks and a strikeout in one inning of work.
