C's Pound Out Season-High 16 Hits In Series Finale

(Avista Stadium - Spokane, WA) - A four-run top of the 6th inning proved to be the difference as Vancouver pounded out a season-high 16 hits en route to an 11-6 victory in the final game of a critical series in Spokane.

Canadians 2B Tim Locastro went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, scoring three times on the night while CF Roemon Fields hit his first professional home run in the top of the 6th inning as well as stole his league-leading 32nd base of the summer in the 5th as the top of the Vancouver order helped snap a two-game losing streak. LF Chris Carlson also provided an offensive punch going 3-for-5 while pinch-hitter Michael De La Cruz delivered the knockout blow in the top of the 9th inning with a two-run double to center field that gave the Canadians an 11-6 final.

The victory helped Vancouver improve to 3-5 on the second half and pulls them into a three-way tie for 2nd in the North Division, two games back of Everett who topped Tri-City on Tuesday night to improve to 5-3.

Vancouver now travels overnight into Boise to open a five-game series against the Hawks with LHP Jairo Labourt getting the ball in the series opener set for 6:35pm pacific out at Memorial Stadium.

Canadians Baseball returns to Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Sunday, August 10th at 5:05pm to open up a six-game home stand against division rivals Tri-City (August 10-12) and Everett (August 13-15).
