Eagles shut out Dutchmen

July 29, 2014 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Glens Falls Dragons News Release

Glens Falls: The day started picture perfect for the Eagles and it ended the same as the Eagles won 3-0 behind Kevin Cowan's (William Patterson) right arm.

Cowan threw his first career shut out and complete game as he has pitched in 3 of the PGCBL's 4 seasons. He recorded a season high 7 strikeouts and allowed just 5 hits during the game.

Albany went pitcher by committee for the game as they used six pitchers with Spencer Hotaling (Susquehanna) getting the start and the loss.

The Eagles struck first in the bottom of the second when Rich Guglielmi (Saginaw Valley State) drove Brandon Purcell (Georgia College) in with an RBI single.

The Eagles would bring across two more runs in the third when Guglielmi came up with the bases loaded. Guglielmi would ground an RBI fielder's choice to the shortstop who flipped an out to second before a throwing error would bring across a second run.

Albany was lead offensively by Jake Hanson (Valpo) who went 2 for 3 at the dish.

Glens Falls was lead by the bat of Guglielmi who went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and Mark Powell (Bucknell) who went 1 for 3 with a run scored.
