July 28, 2014 - Pioneer League (PL)
Great Falls Voyagers News Release

After beginning the second half with their fourth shutout of the year, the Voyagers look for a series win this afternoon in Billings.

Great Falls Voyagers (1-1, 24-16) at Missoula Osprey (0-2, 17-23)

RHP Zach Thompson (1-2, 3.92) vs. LHP Gabriel Moya (2-2, 5.94)

7:15 p.m. - Ogren Park Allegiance Field, Missoula, Mont.

GF DROPS SERIES

The Voyagers committed a season-high four errors as they fell 6-4 to Billings Sunday afternoon to drop two of three in the weekend series at Dehler Park. An error allowed the Mustangs to score the game's first run in the second, and then three Great Falls errors left the door open for four more unearned runs in the third. The Voyagers took advantage of a Billings miscue as part of a three-run fourth, but that was as close as the visitors got as the Mustangs took the series and evened the season series at five apiece.

GONE FISHIN'

A day after collecting his first professional home run, outfielder Zach Fish went deep again in yesterday afternoon's contest, a solo shot in the sixth inning to give Great Falls its fourth and final run of the day. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy also collected three hits for the second straight game, adding a pair of doubles to go with his second career long ball.

BULLPEN STEPPING UP

The Voyager bullpen has pitched extremely well so far on this trip, allowing just one run in 10 and two-thirds innings of work in the first three games of the trip to post a microscopic 0.84 earned run average. The eight Great Falls relievers that have appeared on this trip so far have allowed just nine base runners, with seven hits and two walks surrendered. The relief corps has also racked up eight strikeouts during this three-game stretch, and lowered their collective season earned run average from 3.78 to 3.57.

NEXT UP: MISSOULA

The Voyagers continue their seven-game road trip tonight as they make their final visit to Ogren Park Allegiance Field to begin a four-game set with the Osprey. The two teams split the eight first half meetings with four wins apiece. The home team is yet to win a game in this season's series as each team is 4-0 at the other's ballpark so far in 2014.
