Hagerstown Suns News Release

About last game... The Hagerstown Suns (23-14, 67-40) fell to 1-5 against the Greenville Drive (10- 27, 44-62) this season following an 8-4 loss on Sunday evening at Municipal Stadium. The win clinches the season-series for Greenville with just two games left between the two teams this year.

Greenville scored in six different innings on Sunday evening, and pounded out 13 hits. The attack began in the second inning when 3B Hector Lorenzana hit an RBI single to right to put the Drive ahead 1-0. The lead increased to 2-0 in the third thanks to an RBI single by 1B Tim Roberson.

Hagerstown managed to knot the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third. With one out RF Rafael Bautista was hit by a pitch. Center fielder Cody Dent then tripled to right to drive in Bautista and make it 2-1. Dent wound up scoring from third on a sacrifice fly to center field by DH John Wooten.

The Drive broke the 2-2 tie with two runs of their own in the fifth. Center fielder Manuel Margot led off the frame with a ground ball single to right. That was followed by a line drive triple to left off the bat of DH Forest Allday to make it 3-2. Allday scored from third later in the inning when LF Zach Kapstein singled up the middle.

The Greenville lead increased to three in the sixth on an RBI single by Allday. Both teams plated a run in the eighth to keep the margin the same. The Hagerstown run in the bottom of the inning was brought home by an RBI double off the bat of Wooten.

The Drive outscored the Suns 2-1 in the ninth to set the final margin of four. It was RHP Ryan Ullmann (3-1) who suffered the loss for Hagerstown. He pitched two innings in relief, allowing three earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out one. Starting RHP Jason Garcia (1-1) got the win for Greenville. He threw six innings, giving up two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four. RHP German Taveras pitched the final three innings for the Drive to record the three- inning save, his first of the year.

Pitcher of the Week, again... The South Atlantic League announced today that Suns RHP Lucas Giolito was named the league's Pitcher of the Week for the week spanning from July 21 - 27. It is the second time this season Giolito has been selected as the league's Pitcher of the Week.

Giolito made one start during the week, which was on Friday July 25 at home against Kannapolis. In that outing he tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just one infield hit while striking out seven and not walking a batter to earn the win. The one hit he allowed was to the first hitter of the game, but he then proceeded to retire 18 in a row. Giolito has won each of his last four decisions.

On the Mound... RHP Reynaldo Lopez will be heading to the hill tonight for the Suns. He is making his third start and appearance this season for the Suns. He was just added to Hagerstown's roster on July 25 after being transferred from short-season Auburn. With the Doubledays Lopez went 3-2 with a 0.75 ERA in seven games (all starts). Over those seven starts he threw 36.0 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on 15 hits and 15 walks while striking out 31. Lopez last took the mound for the Doubledays on July 22 at Jamestown, where he threw six scoreless innings and gave up just three hits and two walks while striking out four. Lopez was previously with the Suns from May 26 through June 3.

In his two starts with Hagerstown he gave up six earned runs on 12 hits in 7.2 innings. Tonight he goes up against LHP Daniel McGrath for Greenville. McGrath is making his 13th start and appearance this season. He last pitched on July 23 at Lakewood, tossing six innings and allowing two earned runs on three hits and four walks while striking out six. This is his second time facing Hagerstown this season. He faced the Suns on June 13 in Hagerstown and got the win by going five innings and surrendering two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four.

Gearing up for Greenville... The Suns and Drive are playing the seventh of eight games against each other this season and the seventh of eight that will take place in Hagerstown. The Suns are 1-5 against Greenville this year, making the Drive the only team the Suns have played this year who they have a losing record against. The Drive are currently 10-27 in the second half, good for last place in the Southern Division second half standings. Greenville is currently fifth in team batting with a .264 average and 11th in pitching with a team ERA of 4.78.
