After Complete Game Shutout, Salamida Named American Association Pitcher Of The Week

DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Winnipeg Goldeyes LHP Chris Salamida (pictured) has been named this week's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 28.

Salamida, in his fifth season with the Goldeyes, earned two victories this week. On Tuesday, he pitched seven innings against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, giving up two runs on four hits with only one walk while striking out six. The Goldeyes won the game 7-2. Salamida followed up that performance with a complete game shutout against the Gary SouthShore RailCats on Sunday. He allowed only four hits over the nine innings, walking one and racking up seven strikeouts.

Salamida is now 5-3 with a 3.32 ERA for Winnipeg this season. In 92 innings, he has 68 strikeouts and only 16 walks.

The Goldeyes will host the American Association All-Star Game on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Central time. The game, like all American Association games, will be aired on www.independentprofessionalbaseball.com from InnovaTV.
