Jason Kanzler promoted to Fort Myers

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF Jason Kanzler has been promoted to Fort Myers (FSL) and OF Max Murphy will join the Kernels from Elizabethton (APPY). Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

The Twins selected Murphy in the ninth round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of Bradley University. He played in 34 games at Elizabethton, batting .371 with nine HR and 25 RBI and was named the Appalachian League Player of the Week for the week ending July 14th.

Kanzler played in 84 games for the Kernels, batting .284 with nine HR and 48 RBI. He also stole 15 bases in 22 attempts.

Murphy is active and available for tonight's 6:00 pm game at Dayton. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at 25 active players, with six players currently on the DL.

The Kernels wrap up a six game road trip tonight at 6:00 pm against the Dayton Dragons. They return home to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, July 29th for a three game series against the Burlington Bees.
