Sky Hosts "Hoops for Troops" Veteran Hiring Expo

CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky will host its second annual "Hoops for Troops" Veteran Hiring Expo at Allstate Arena on Wednesday, August 6. The Sky is proud to support active and retired military personnel. By partnering with the Keeling Family Foundation-SAVE, HandsOn Suburban Chicago, IDES and Pritzker Military Museum & Library the Sky has invited fifty Chicago-land companies from a variety of industries to participate in the Expo and provide job guidance for those looking to advance their careers.

"The Sky is an avid supporter of military members and their families," said Adam Fox, president and CEO of the Sky. "With the Hoops for Troops initiative it is an honor to expand this celebration to include a Veteran Hiring Expo. We look forward to welcoming the military and the great companies lending their expertise for this event."

The Veteran Hiring Expo will take place on Wednesday, August 6. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT and will be held in the Skyline Room at the Allstate Arena. The expo is free to veterans and active duty military.

Veterans and active duty military individuals who attend the expo will receive job guidance from several top companies in the greater Chicago area. Companies in attendance will include Kraft, Walmart, Sam's Club, Home Depot, New World Van Lines, ComEd, Zurich NA, Computer Systems Inc, Prudential Financial and more. Attendees will be given one-on-one guidance in interview preparation and meet with human resource professionals who can offer advice on job application processes.

Through the WNBA Hoops for Troops program, the Chicago Sky honors military and their families with a variety of initiatives including in-arena nights, military base visits, discount ticket programs, in-game activation, and meet & greets with wounded warriors. The Sky has also made a season-long commitment to collecting items for Packages 4 Patriots. The Chicago Sky invites all veterans, active duty military and their families to celebrate a night of world-class basketball and family fun on Sunday, August 10 for the Sky's "Hoops for Troops" game against the Atlanta Dream. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. CT. Exclusive "Hoops for Troops" packages include entrance to the game, a donation to Keeling Family Foundation-SAVE military charity and a Sky "Hoops for Troops" t-shirt.
