Emanuel Goes Seven Strong in Win over Ports

STOCKTON, Calif. - Kent Emanuel tossed a career-high seven innings and his offense blasted three home runs as the JetHawks beat the Stockton Ports, 8-3, on Sunday evening at Banner Island Ballpark.
The win gave the JetHawks (62-44) and series split with the Ports (59-47) in their final matchup of the season.
Emanuel's stellar outing came with a shaky start. The first three batters of the game picked up hits against the lefty before he settled down. He didn't allow a hit of the remainder of his outing.
Stockton scored runs in the first inning on a Matt Olson RBI-double and Renato Nunez run-scoring ground ball. Emanuel walked a batter later in the inning but struck out Bobby Crocker to end the frame.
Emanuel (6-3) retired 20 of the final 21 batters he faced. Of his seven strikeouts, six were looking.
The JetHawks came back to take the lead with four runs in the fourth inning. Tyler White hit a solo home run, his first with Lancaster, before the JetHawks loaded the bases against Dylan Covey (0-1). Chan Moon emptied the bases with a three-run double with two outs against Covey to chase the starter from the game.
Roberto Peña hit a solo shot in the fifth inning and Danry Vasquez hit a two-run home run in the eighth to add to Lancaster's run total.
Rio Ruiz doubled and scored on a passed ball in the ninth inning for the JetHawks final run.
Daniel Minor relieved Emanuel and tossed the final two innings to complete the win. He allowed a home run to Ryon Healy in the ninth before finishing the Ports.
The JetHawks continue their road trip on Monday night in High Desert. Lancaster has not announced a starting pitcher for the game. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
