Evansville Otters News Release

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - Frontier League saves record holder Eric Massingham is heading back to Bosse Field.

The first place Evansville Otters (38-22) traded right-handed pitcher Orlando Santos to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the American Association on Sunday for righty Eric Massingham on Sunday night.

Massingham pitched for Evansville from 2011-2013, recording a Frontier League record 62 saves.

"We just couldn't pass on the deal to re-acquire Mass," said Otters manager Andy McCauley. "We are looking forward to seeing him in uniform and throwing our ninth inning."

Massingham has the most single-season saves (22), career saves (62) and fourth lowest earned run average in Otters franchise history (1.74). He has only one blown save as an Otters closer.

"I'm very excited to be back with the Otters," added Massingham. "The team has been playing great so far this season and I'm looking forward to doing my part to help secure a spot in the playoffs."

In order to receive Massingham, the Otters had to part with Santos. The right-hander was 4-3 as the Otters closer this season with a 3.21 earned run average and four blown saves.

Evansville will now go for sole possession of first place in the East Division on Monday night in a doubleheader sponsored by Carson's Brewery. The Otters and Wild Things will play two, seven-inning games.

It is also $1 peanuts night at Bosse Field. Game one will feature Washington left-hander Zach LeBarron and Evansville lefty Blake Monar (1-3, 6.44). The Otters have not named their game two starter. Washington will have right-hander Troy Marks (1-0, 1.68). First pitch is 5:35 pm CDT. Fans can purchase tickets by calling 812-435-8686.

The game will also be broadcast live on WUEV 91.5 FM. Play by play announcer Mike Radomski and color commentator Bill McKeon have the call beginning at 5:15 pm CDT.
