Jay Rogers (W, 6-2) earned the win in a brilliant outing, surrendering just one run (earned) on a pair of hits while not walking a batter and striking out three Biscuits in a season-best 7.2 innings of work.
Frankie Reed allowed a single to the only batter he faced, allowing one run (earned) without recording an out.
Collin Cargill allowed a pair of hits without retiring a batter in his Sunday night outing.
Matt Ramsey (SV, 4) collected his fourth save as a Sun and his 10th overall on the year by getting the final four outs of the game, striking out a trio of Biscuits in his 1.1 innings of work.
Dylan Floro (L, 9-9) took the hard-luck loss for the Biscuits, giving up three runs (just one of them earned) on six hits in 7.1 innings, only walking one batter while striking out a pair of Suns.
The game was an excellent pitcher's duel, remaining scoreless until Taylor Motter (HR, 13) put the Biscuits up 1-0 with a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Suns struck right back in the top of the eighth, scoring three times to take a 3-1 lead. Alfredo Lopez and Austin Nola came down to score on shortstop Jake Hager's throwing error for Jacksonville to take a 2-1 lead. Jacksonville added their third run of the inning when Austin Barnes scored on Jeff Malm's fielding error on a ball put in play by Alex Burg.
Montgomery drew a run closer and cut the Suns' lead to 3-2 on Willie Argo's two-out RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Jacksonville got that run right back in the top of the ninth, as Terrence Dayleg crossed home plate on a perfect bunt single put down by Alfredo Lopez, giving Jacksonville a 4-2 edge.
The win gives Jacksonville a 2-0 series lead heading into Monday night's middle game of the series.
The Suns and Biscuits will be back at it on Monday, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. CT (8:05 p.m. ET). The Suns will start right-hander Robert Morey (2-1, 4.85) while the Biscuits will send out a righty of their own in Albert Suarez (1-2, 4.42).
