Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Kannapolis swept a Sunday double-header from the BlueClaws, winning the first game 7-3 and the second game 6-3 in nine innings.

Lakewood (14-23/41-65) tied the second game in the bottom of the seventh inning on a lead-off home run by Mitch Walding off Intimidators reliever Jose Brito. It was Walding's 3rd home run of the year and forced extra innings.

However, Aaron Baker (0-1) surrendered a two-run triple in the top of the 9th inning to Adam Engel. Trey Michalczewski added an RBI single to provide the final margin.

Walding went 3-4 with two RBIs in game two of the double-header. Dylan Cozens and Larry Greene Jr. each had two hits for the BlueClaws.

In game one, Kannapolis blew open a 1-0 game with a six-run 6th inning off Delvi Francisco. The inning included an RBI double by Michalczweski, an RBI single by Danny Hayes, who homered in game two, and an RBI single by Jeremy Dowdy.

Lakewood starter Matt Imhof (0-1) took the loss after allowing just one run over five innings with four strikeouts. The 2014 Phillies 2nd round pick from Cal-Poly retired the final 12 hitters that he faced in the game.

Kannapolis game one starter Jeff McKenzie (2-2) went the distance and gave up three runs, including a two-run home run by Greene, his first of the year, for the complete game win.

The losses snapped Lakewood's three-game wining streak and Kannapolis snapped a three-game losing streak by winning both games of the double-header.

Lakewood and Kannapolis meet on Monday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Tyler Viza (3-13) opposes RHP Brandon Brennan (1-0).
