Anchors Lose to the MoonDogs, Split Series

Alexandria Blue Anchors News Release


Alexandria, Minn. - The Alexandria Blue Anchors lost game four Sunday against the Mankato Moondogs, losing by a final score of 8-2.

The Moondogs would strike first, scoring one run in the second inning on an RBI single by Ridge Smith. The Anchors would answer right back however, scoring one run in the bottom half of the same inning as Nehwon Norkeh came in to score on a wild pitch after he reached third by way of a triple.

Mankato would then retake the lead on a Craig Lepre RBI double in the fourth. The score would be 2-1 Mankato through four.

In the fifth, Peter Maris would drive in a run on an RBI groundout to expand the lead to 3-1.

In the eighth, the Moondogs would start rolling, putting up four runs. Eric Schenck-Joblinski knocked in two with an RBI single that would be followed by a throwing error by Kris Goodman resulting in a run coming across. Another run would score on a single by Brent Zimmerman and the Anchors would trail 7-1 entering the bottom of the eighth.

Kris Goodman would tack one more run on with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, unfortunately, the Anchors would fall in the ninth by a final of 8-2.

Notes: The Blue Anchors next game will be Monday July 28th at home against the Willmar Stingers and will take place at 6:35PM. The game can be seen live at www.youtube.com/user/NorthwoodsLeague.com.
