Green Bay Rockers News Release
Madison, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs (27-29, 10-11 Sec. Half), winners of their last four, finish a two-game series on Sunday at Warner Park in Madison, Wisconsin against the Mallards (30-27, 12-12 Sec-Half). After the Bullfrogs complete their series against Madison on Sunday, Green Bay will head to Battle Creek for two games against the Bombers on Monday and Tuesday.
The Bullfrogs took game one of the series on Saturday night, 6-4. Starter Zac Westcott (Nova Southeastern) picked up his first win as a Bullfrog throwing six and one-third innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, while striking out five. Scoring the go ahead run was Dean Long (Emporia State) on a Mallards error in the fifth inning. Long, who singled to lead off the ballgame, extended his hitting streak to seven games. He finished the game 1-for-4, with two runs scored.
Westcott also received run support from Ryan Howell (Chabot College) and Matt Beaty (Belmont University). Howell hit his team-leading ninth home run of the season in the third inning, his fourth long-ball in his last ten games. Beaty, the only Bullfrog with multiple hits on Saturday, finished the game 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
On the mound for the Bullfrogs on Sunday will be Mike Ellenbest (Saginaw Valley State). The freshman, making his first start since July 9th, is searching for his third win of the season. Last time out against the Mallards, Ellenbest looked great, only to receive a no-decision. He tossed six innings while scattering seven hits and only allowing one run. Ellenbest owns a 2-3 record with a 5.70 ERA on the season
Opposing Ellenbest for Madison will be Tyler Buffett (Oklahoma State). The six-foot-one righty comes into Sunday's game with a 5.68 ERA, resulting in a 1-2 record. Buffet struggled in his last outing at Kenosha. In just three-and-one-third innings pitched, Buffet allowed six hits and three walks, resulting in five earned runs.
First pitch from "The Duck Pond" at Warner Park in Madison, Wisconsin is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
