The Brazos Valley Bombers scored early and often on Saturday night as they defeated the Texas Marshals by a final score of 14-3 in Dallas. The Bombers pounded out 19 hits to take the first game of a two-game series.

Horacio Correa led off the game with a solo home run for the Bombers on the second pitch he saw to get things going. The Bombers scored 14 straight runs before the Marshals could respond. They put up four in the first, three in the fourth, two in the fifth, three in the sixth, and two in the eighth.

Cody Brannon picked up the win as he tossed five scoreless innings. He allowed just three hits and two walks and struck out one.

The Marshals broke a 25-inning scoreless streak in the bottom of the eighth inning as James Sloan hit his first home run of the season, a three-run shot to left field, to cut the Bombers lead to 14-3.

Chase Daughdrill and Mason Mantle each had two hits in the game for the Marshals.

With the loss, the Marshals fall to 16-30 on the season and 8-11 in the second-half. The Bombers improve their league-leading record to 33-12 overall and 11-6 in the second-half.

The Marshals and Bombers will meet again on Sunday night at 7:05pm at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas for the second game of the two-game series. It will be Bark in the Park Night on Sunday with the Humane Society of Dallas County. Members of Dog and Kitty City's adoption team will be on hand with a few of their adoptable dogs. Fans are encouraged to bring their own dogs to the park as well.
